Implications of designation

This section explains in more detail what impact designation would have on the administration of the areas proposed for inclusion in a National Park. We have taken this into account in reaching our conclusions.

The most significant implication for extending either National Park would be that some responsibilities would transfer from the relevant County and District Councils to the National Park Authority (see Table 2 below). In addition, there would be a potential impact on National Park Authority membership.
